Taking their name from a comment made after several failed attempts to catch the lead singer's boxer puppy named Corona, the band has quickly made a name for themselves in the Hampton Roads area. Having won the MAX FM Battle of the Bands in both 2006 & 2007, both Sand To Stone and Crawling are played in regular rotation on Max FM. Chasing Corona has had such an impact on the local music scene that they have been featured on three local news programs, in a variety of print publications, and invited to play at Fleet Week 2007 and 2008. More information about their accomplishments in the press are available on the Latest News page. The lead singer, Cole Childers, and the lead guitarist, Brian Farley, met in 2005 while deployed overseas in Aqaba, Jordan during a night of "Battle of the Ship's Bands". The next morning the 2 ships, USS Kearsarge (Brian's ship) and the USS Ashland (Cole's ship) came under a terrorist attack. After a long search, they now welcome Johnny Tatum as the new drummer. Our independent merchandise (currently CDs and T-Shirts) sales are strong and the band continues to increase its fan base by playing throughout the Hampton Roads metro area and writing new material. The group's lead vocalist Cole credits such influences as Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, and Alter Bridge's Miles Kennedy, to name a few. He realized his ear for music when his brother gave him his first guitar at seventeen. Growing up in Seattle during the high point of the city's booming music scene only further increased his appreciation for music. Since then, he has worked on song writing and pushing his limits vocally. |
